South Dublin County Council are proposing to ban the sale and use of the popular weedkiller 'Roundup'.
This is in response to recent claims that, Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup may be carcinogenic. Other countries such as The Netherlands have already banned Roundup and there is a global campaign to rid us of this product.
What do you think? Is it time to ban this and other dangerous weedkillers? Do we know the real effects of these products on human and animal life? What are the alternatives available to us?
Although, agriculture is by far the biggest users of chemicals on the land, we in the horticulture arena are part of this debate/problem.
